Districts section, and other issues
[edit]The article said there are 6 districts in the region, though 10 districts are listed. Also, if I'm not mistaken, the name(s) following each district are clan names. I assume they are listed so as to indicate some sort of prominence in a given district. I don't know if this is supposed to be in terms of population, or political strength, or economic dominance etc., and I also wonder about the motive behind posting this sort of information. Forgive me if I'm not assuming good faith. Recently there has been a series of edits to Somalia-related articles (mainly regions and clans) on the part of various anonymous editors, and my gut feeling about this activity is that one or more people wish to assert one clan's superiority over the other, and they are using Wikipedia articles to do so. Even if I'm correct, this doesn't necessarily apply to whoever added the information in question to this article. But I'm not sure such edits contribute much, either. In any case, as someone else has already pointed out, references would be helpful. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 18:48, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
Ras Aseyr
[edit]Ras Aseyr is a non-existent state. The men who attempted to carve out an administration in Bari by that name long ago abandoned the idea. They have since officially declared their support for Puntland's authorities [dead link][dead link]. Middayexpress (talk) 15:20, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
- That may be so, but the article doesn't say so. All it says, which I'm about to add to the article, is that negotiations were a possibility been Ras Aseyer and Puntland. If I add that the state now is non-existent it would have be with a [citation needed] tag at the end. Buckshot06 (talk) 02:50, 21 June 2014 (UTC)
- You cannot remove data because you say the actual administration in question does not exist. Not being sure of the status of the body, I was very careful to say 'Radio Galcayko said..' etc. It's relevant, SOURCED, data that reflects on the political situation in the region. It would be *much* more helpful to add some sort of clarification, sourced, that explains why the body does not exist. Should you remove the data again wholesale without adding clarification, I will readd it. Should you keep doing so, I will seek administrator advice.
- Again, stop removing things wholesale!! All this kind of material makes clearer the complicated political situation in these regions, and needs to be expanded with clarifications - otherwise people who are looking at this will never know of this political development !! Buckshot06 (talk) 23:11, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
- Of course it does. It asserts as much in its very title, and indicates that the leaders of the bid retreated their claims: "No more Raas Assayr State as its founders retreated their claims and supported Puntland" [...] Barre Faatax one of the founders of Ras Asayr State in Bari Region retreated his claims of Raas Assayr State and supported Puntland government and its efforts in the districts where Barre and his friends acclaimed it was new state[...] "When we had announced Raas Assayr state, we were not happy how Puntland government neglected the region, but right now every thing is changed and Puntland government seems to have come up with new development plans in Ex. Raas Assayr state" says Barre Faatax[...] Talking to media, Barre Fatah insisted that Raas Assayr People will support Puntland government as it accelerates its development projects in the region[dead link][dead link]".
