[edit]It's rather irritating how students and instructors from various martial arts schools create pages almost advertising their own school...

Is this an encyclopedia article?
[edit]Hi. This article should be merged or deleted as it doesn't actually provide details of what black tiger kung fu is or any links. The text doesn't bother to differentiate between this style and others, plus the listing of masters seems to be like a vanity article of a particular claimed style. The paragraphs describing a practiotioner are also out of place in the article, with no apparent relevance or importance. I will list this for deletion or merging if no one disagrees. Any comments? - Master Of Ninja 16:29, 7 October 2005 (UTC)
The article has not been credible. It has no references and is poorly written. I doubt the authenticity of this martial art and I don't think this article should exist. Shawnc 11:25, 17 November 2005 (UTC)
++ Is it just me or is there something odd about that email address... cusmhot@yahoo.com. I misread it the first time; are we sure that it's valid and not just a joke? ++
+Not to mention the free advertising the so-called "master" Jemmy got by actually leaving a phone number on wikipedia+
It exists
[edit]Don't know why you guys are complaining so much. It's typical for a martial arts system to name its lineage. Obviously the guy didn't care to spend too much time describing it hence its existence only as a stub. In fact, my friend who's taken 8 years of martial arts recently acquired a rather hard to find black shantung manuscript now available on amazon.com and is studying it. very into it. you can check it out here:
Coincidence?
[edit]I got results in both the Huáng Qí Yīng and Hóng Jiā pages when I put in the hànzì (黑虎拳) for this "school of martial arts" into Wikipedia's search bar. I think they are one and the same. The hànzì translate into "Black Tiger Fist" on all the pages, and seem to be a Hóng Jiā Tào Lù that was passed down from Zhì Shàn Chán Shī to Lù Ā Cài to Huáng Qí Yīng to Huáng Fēi Hóng, who eventually must have incorporated it into the Gōng Zì Fú Hǔ Quán Tào Lù of Hóng Jiā, according to the article. 209.151.140.66 (talk) 09:35, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
Fist
[edit]- 'unique fist position (where the thumb is curled in the same manner as the other fingers, rather than wrapped around them).'
How does this physically work? The thumb isn't long enough to really bend like that, and it's an angle to boot. I tried to see how this might be, and couldn't figure it out. --Gwern (contribs) 15:46 14 May 2009 (GMT)

Heihuquan → Heihu quan – Both to be WP:CONSISTENT with other forms of Chinese boxing (e.g. xingyi quan) and to follow the WP:NCZH policy to space pinyin according to words. SilverStar54 (talk) 17:33, 18 July 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. WPscatter t/c 16:04, 26 July 2023 (UTC)
