Thanks for editing Respiratory distress syndrome. Please note that the policy is to avoid boldface except in the article header. The article box {{medicine}} was intended only for the articles mentioned in that box, i.e. internal medicine or orolaryngology, as it is a very big box that's not very relevant to all articles. Aside, I must express my admiration for your hard work on acute respiratory distress syndrome, and I apologise for occasionally interfering with your edit process (you wisely inserted {{inuse}} later). Hi, and thanks... I was fond of finally getting to write down all recollections and readings, so I took a chance to share it. Don't worry about edit conflicts, I thought it was you (or JFW) eheh...
I'm about to graduate from "La Sapienza" university in Rome, Italy -- I'm scheduled for my final dissertation in a few days (is that what you call the 'ceremony' where you talk about your thesis?). I've spent the last three years of medical school between the emergency department ER and the general intensive care unit... My training was quite informal since I've been more of a resident than a student there, at least according to Italian standards. I've become insanely interested in mechanical ventilation, and to a lesser extent in sepsis and hemodynamics during my internships (again, I hope that's the right word). In a couple of months I'm applying for Anesthesia & Critical Care residency -- they're joined specialties here, but I'm not really looking forward to anesthesia practice right now. Aside.

I also admire your article about something I know little about. I brashly made a few copy edits, but please look at them and confirm they are correct. You referred to "immunitary" cells under pathophysiology-- I wasnt sure if you meant immune or inflammatory or something I never heard of-- I'll let you change it. Also, it's been a few years since I spent time in NICUs, when RDS was common and also called "hyaline membrane disease." Is this the same disease you refer to as "IRDS"? I did mean immune but I got the wrong word (I'm Italian...) -- thanks for pointing out! To be honest, there's not that much to say about differences between IRDS and ARDS, as far as I know (I don't have much of a NICU background either). The real difference is the 'congenital' lack of surfactant (not yet produced, in fact) in the premature newborn's lung, which is somewhat more responsive to surfactant replacement therapy. Meconium aspiration in the mature lung, also common in 'older' prematures, leads to the very same disease as adult patchy RDS. In fact I sticked to the classification I found when I started editing the article... I'll make it clearer as I expand and add articles... Aside

You wouldn't imagine how (relatively?) difficult Dante can be for an Italian. Latin is pretty much another language, either...
