Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Romance (composition)
Appearance
Full text is: "Romance is the name of a piece of music composed by Ludwig van Beethoven." As far as I know, "Romance" is a pretty common name for a musical composition, and even Beethoven could have conceivable written more than one piece called "Romance". One would at the very least expect a key designation, if this is in reference to a particular piece. The article namespace might be useful, if someone wanted to describe the common traits of compositions designated by this name. Otherwise this is too vague and too short to be of any use. --Woggly 08:51, 26 Jul 2004 (UTC) In light of recent revision, I withdraw my vote to delete. I will though move the rewritten article to Romance (music). --Woggly 13:47, 26 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- I was right, Beethoven did write more than one Romance. Opus 40, Romance for Violin in G major; and opus 50, Romance for Violin in F major, and they already have their own redlinks on wikipedia. See List of works by Beethoven. Another quick check revealed that Schumann wrote three Romances too, see: Robert Schumann. I rest my case. --Woggly 09:05, 26 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- Keep. I've attempted to rewrite it as an encyclopedic stub about the type of piece in general. I think it has potential to grow. It could perhaps be moved to Romance (music). —siroχo 11:08, Jul 26, 2004 (UTC)
- Keep, expand, poss. Clean Up: With the change of direction, it's a needed article. It really should be Romance (music), because a "romance" is a type of novel as well. A "romans" is an important artform in general. Geogre 12:26, 26 Jul 2004 (UTC)
