POV
[edit]It's not POV to state that McGrain made this claim in his autobiography. PatGallacher 16:05, 2005 Apr 30 (UTC)
It is his point of view, why the significance of this one line, lets not copy his whole autobiography to the page Jimbo79 02:56, 2 May 2005 (UTC)
Is there any authority for this most recent addition? PatGallacher 00:18, 2005 Jun 6 (UTC)
It is now over 2 days since I asked for a source for this latest dubious addition, none has been given. This is certainly at variance with the version of events in McGrain's autobiography, and which was widely believe in Scotland at the time. I have therefore reverted to the most recent previous version by Karatekid7. PatGallacher 15:54, 2005 Jun 8 (UTC)
I understand he wrote 2 autobiographies. The first one Celtic My Team was written around 1980, a copy is available in the Mitchell Library. There was a second one written shortly after he retired from active play. However the claim referred to in this article was made in both autobiographies. Should a reference to either or both autobiographies be made in the article? PatGallacher 2005 July 7 12:02 (UTC)
As nobody has objected I have inserted references to both his autobiographies. I am prepared to allow the NPOV flag to stand for the time being. However my main source of references, the Mitchell Library, is closed for renovation, I will investigate some matters further when it re-opens later in the year. PatGallacher 2005 July 9 09:58 (UTC)
It is now one week since this article assumed its present form, and nobody has objected to it or attempted to change it. While I have no wish to rush things, I suggest that NPOV flags should not be allowed to stand indefinitely without some attempt to justify this claim. If nobody objects over the next week then I propose to remove the NPOV flag from this article. PatGallacher 11:17, 2005 July 16 (UTC)
It is now one week since I asked if anyone wanted to justify the NPOV flag on this article, and nobody has done so. I am therefore removing it. PatGallacher 18:59, 2005 July 23 (UTC)
I will check this, but I am suspicious of the claim that McGrain said in his first autobiography that he was passed over for a coaching position, given that this was written while he was still playing. PatGallacher 09:32, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

- I will take on this review. Note that I have tagged the article for cleanup already, specifically dead link cleanup and lead too long. Once these issues are addressed, I will conduct a full review. C679 13:05, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
> I've removed the dead link, I think the reference beside it covers the statement anyway
> I've trimmed the lead a bit; let me know if you think it needs shortened further.ShugSty (talk) 15:18, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
- That's a start. Per WP:LEAD, which is part of the criteria, the lead "should ideally contain no more than four well-composed paragraphs". C679 17:54, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
- After a week, I am quick failing this article due to it having cleanup banners that are still valid. C679 21:11, 5 March 2015 (UTC)
Well, what a waste of effing time THAT turned out to be. I dunno why I bothered (and I won't again). I'm not really surprised the article got failed for GA, but I did hope for more in depth analysis and pointers on how to IMPROVE the article other than being told the lead was too long. Ah, well............ ShugSty (talk) 00:36, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
