The result of the debate was - kept
Reasons for deletion are the same as above for Coco Gordon Moore. Perhaps her parents are a little more famous, but again, not worthy of a separate page. Joseph Philipsson 02:16, 24 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Keep. The suicide of her father and custody issues with her mother have been fairly well documented within the lower media. That she herself hasn't herself accomplished anything encyclopedia-worthy is irrelevant, media exposure alone can serve as a basis for keeping an article (would you delete Elián González?). Sarge Baldy 02:24, Sep 24, 2004 (UTC)
- The suicide of her father is really not relevant in itself, unless it somehow affects her later achievements. A custody battle is rarely encyclopaedic, one exception is Elian Gonzalez, precisely because his situation is rare. Spats between grandparents and widows are all too common. Joseph Philipsson 02:36, 24 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- From what I heard the situation with Elián was actually quite common, with around 100 similar examples every year. It was just one of those examples of the media overplaying a situation in order to educate the public and make money. The suicide of her father of course isn't relevant in itself, though I think it makes the situation more unique and indeed it's a unique enough situation to have made headlines in lower media, on which I justify its existence. - Keep. Notable person of interest. --Viriditas 03:29, 24 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. I agree with Joseph Philipsson. Fire Star 03:50, 24 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Keep, but get rid of that external link. I think that people will have heard the name and wish to find information about her. I.e. she is a person of concern to encyclopedia users. I agree that she has done nothing but be born, but, like Sean Lennon, she is too famous as famous to even be a celebrity kid or spouse or concubine. Geogre 04:09, 24 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- But Sean Lennon is an artist (loosely defined ;-) ) in own right. FBC hasn't done anything but be born to famous parents and there is no controversy or other action involved (Baby M, Lacy Peterson as mentioned below) Terrapin 15:06, 27 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. Not encyclopedic in her own right. RickK 05:52, Sep 24, 2004 (UTC)
- Merge any worthy information into articles on Cobain and Love. Redirect. The child has no notability on her own. Joyous 10:44, Sep 24, 2004 (UTC)
- An obvious keep. The girl is famous. Everyking 11:02, 24 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. Not notable. --Improv 16:02, 24 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. The pertinent information is already in Kurt Cobain; this separate page does a disservice to the reader--unless the page authors can come up with at least the kind of notability in detail that is in the Courtney Love page. ---Rednblu 20:33, 24 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Tentative keep, if only because it is not clear if it would redirect to Courtney Love or Kurt Cobain. -- Jmabel 21:40, Sep 24, 2004 (UTC)
- Just a comment - I don't recall when, but I'm certain this has been on VfD before (sometime between June 2003 and now, for me to have seen it). Adam Bishop 18:14, 25 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. Nothing encyclopedic here that can't fit into Kurt Cobain or Courtney Love. --Aponar Kestrel (talk) 01:01, 2004 Sep 26 (UTC)
- Delete this and all other "notable by association" articles. -- WOT 01:23, 26 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Keep. She's very well known, and that should be enough. People will probably search for her. Sure, she hasn't really accomplished anything, but what did Baby M do other than be born, or Laci Peterson other than get killed? -R. fiend 18:07, 26 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. Being related to someone famous does not make you notable. There has to be something else (heir to throne, involved in weird custody battle, etc.) Terrapin 15:03, 27 Sep 2004 (UTC) 14:55, 27 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- How does being an heir to a throne make you noteable? For instance, what did Gilbert,_Count_of_Montpensier or Barbara and Jenna Bush ever do to be worthy of articles? Objectively, a status of royalty given through birth is hardly an accomplishment in itself, but no one disputes these. There's little contention about including just about any actor or movie director on Wikipedia, but what have they really contributed to the world, any more than say a doctor or scientist? Why are politicians any more noteable than anthropologists? Clearly it's the policy of an encyclopedia not to include people so much for doing something noteable as being noted and well known by a number of people. If someone is known, for whatever reason, I think that's enough for them to be indexed here. Erring the other way and you may as well delete half the biographies on this site. - Keep. Notable enough. --DMG413 01:03, 29 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Keep. Her name comes up in the news a lot more than a lot of people we have in here, even if it is only in connection to her parents. She doesn't need a long entry, obviously, but until we start going on a Pokemon, reality show, and sitcom pogrom then I think this is a notable-enough article. And no, being related to someone notable alone does not make you notable, but when a lot of the controversy about your notable parents revolves around custody issues and you, then yes, it makes you "notable-enough," I think. This wouldn't be included in Brittanica but neither would Kurt Cobain, most likely. Certainly notable enough by Wikipedia standards. --Fastfission 07:04, 29 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Keep, or possibly just make sure the custody information is on Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain -- GWO 18:06, 30 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Keep, she has been in the news enough to warrant an article herself. --Saforrest 23:08, Sep 30, 2004 (UTC)
