Biography
[edit]I expanded the biography and organized the info in the whole. Don't know if it's ok that way. Thief12 03:26, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
No sources?
[edit]Since this article has no sources, hasn't had any sources for a long time, and appears to be written based on a press release, I'm inclined to turn it into a stub (a couple of sentence of bare facts), and ask that people only add sourced material. Does anyone think they can find reliable, secondary sources for this biography? Will Beback talk 10:10, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
- Since there are still no sources for the article I've trimmed it down substantially. Even this little bit still needs sources. Will Beback talk 10:07, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

Birth record from registry
[edit]Astrodatabank (see Source Notes) contains a copy of the birth record and quotes the correct date and place of birth from it, 25 April 1931 in Ponce, PR. I updated the page. --Aloist (talk) 12:08, 19 March 2021 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, we cannot accept your 25 April 1931 DOB because of the way how Wikipedia operates. The sources you are providing (Astrodatabank and Mercado's birth certificate from Astrodatabank) are not reliable sources (see WP:RS), and WP cites must come from reliable sources. Even if the cites you provided had come from reliable sources, at least one of them (the copy of the BC) would not be acceptable because presenting a copy of Mercado's birth certificate would also not pass WP's musterd as at Wikipedia we don't edit based on primary source documents (also known as primary sources), such as birth certificates. We, instead, depend of secondary sources, such as books and magazine articles. Working from primary sources is considered original research and isn't allowed. The secondary sources currently in the article state he was born on 9 March 1932 and that's the date that WP can use. Incidentally, due to conflict of interest policies at WP, you should exercise care when editing articles in the encyclopedia that source cites to Astrodatabank, since in this page you state you are involved with Astrodatabank. - If he was born in 1932 then he died aged 66. It is obvious that he was at least 20 years older. Rustygecko (talk) 19:05, 14 September 2021 (UTC)
University, really?
[edit]"He attended university majoring in pedagogy, psychology and pharmacy..."
Firstly in a documentary in which he discussed his life he only said he studied dance. Secondly nobody can major in all those subjects. Thirdly, the link from which it claims it gets the information, the info seems to not be there, but its certainly not a reliable source. Rustygecko (talk) 19:03, 14 September 2021 (UTC)
