2100
[edit]Please note that the year 2100 redirects to this article, when it is technically in the 21st century. The 21st century article states the century ends in 2099, and the 2090s decade article also omits the year, so this year has been lost in the shuffle. I want to add the following content, but I don't know where it can go:
Calendar
[edit]- Due to the fact it is not divisible exactly by 400, the year 2100, which otherwise would be a leap year, will be the first such year not to contain a February 29 since the year 1900.
I am sure there are other astronomical, social, and fictional references to 2100 too. 68.146.52.234 (talk) 18:52, 30 July 2014 (UTC)
"the first such year" means either a year divisible by 4 or a year divisible by 100.
When the GREGORIAN calendar reaches 1 March 2100, the difference between Julian and Gregorian increases to 14 days. It is 13 days at the writing of the message you are reading; notice that in the year 2100:
Feb. 15 (Julian) is Feb. 28 (Gregorian); still 13 day difference
Feb. 16 (Julian) is March 1 (Gregorian, which has no Feb. 29 that year); the Julian calendar will still have to get through Feb. 29 to reach March 1, so the 14 day difference has kicked in
Feb. 29 (Julian) is March 14 (Gregorian) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.63.16.20 (talk) 18:04, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
I removed the George Friedman prediction from the article because not only has the book been widely ridiculed by a majority of scholars and members of the press, but research on immigrant assimilation has undermined both his and Samuel Huntington's arguments that the United States is being broken apart by Mexicans. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.147.9.188 (talk) 20:40, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
