Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! Hope you like it here, and stick around.
Here are some tips to help you get started:
- To sign your posts (on talk pages, for example) use the '~' symbol. To insert just your name, type ~~~ (3 tildes), or, to insert your name and timestamp, use ~~~~ (4 tildes).
- Try the Tutorial, and feel free to experiment in the test area.
- If you need help, post a question at the Help Desk
- Eventually, you might want to read the Manual of Style and Policies and Guidelines.
- Remember Wikipedia:Neutral point of view
- Explore, be bold in editing pages, and, most importantly, have fun!
Good luck!

[edit]Wikipedia is not a guide on how to construct (or buy) game boards. Please have a look at the welcome page to see what it is. And I did not write 'ridiculous' at any point. - ulayiti (talk) 17:23, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
Image Tagging Image:Megamat14x14x5.png
[edit]This media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Megamat14x14x5.png. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 19:52, 2 April 2006 (UTC)
Ambiguous copyright status of Hexposition01.jpg
[edit]Your Image:Hexposition01.jpg has both a copyright notice and a statement that you have released it to the public domain, which appears contradictory.
The image was marked for automatic deletion, but I'll remove the {{permission}} tag since I don't believe your intention was to prevent Wikipedia from using the image, and I think it should stay.
Please either remove the copyright notice, so that the image is clearly PD; or apply a licence that Wikipedia can accept.
Other images you've created may be in this or a similar situation too; a previous comment links to an image which has apparently already been deleted.
Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
[edit]Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true
. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false
in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer be able to have them marked as minor by default. For more information on what a minor edit is, see WP:MINOR or feel to get in touch.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 21:20, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
File:Hexposition01.jpg needs authorship information.
[edit]The media file you uploaded as File:Hexposition01.jpg is missing information as to its authorship (and or source) , or if such information is provided it is confusing.
Although images may not need author information in un-controversial cases, or where an applicable source is provided, such information aids those making use of the image, and helps verify the copyright status of an image.
If possible, please consider updating the media information page to make the authorship (and or source) of this media clearer.
If the media is your own work, please consider explicitly including your user name or using the {{own}} template on the media information page.
If you have any questions please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 17:31, 10 April 2011 (UTC)Sfan00 IMG (talk) 17:31, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
Hex (board game) contributions
[edit]Hi! I'm a member of Wikipedia:WikiProject Board and table games. I monitor articles on popular board games like Hex, Chess, Stratego, Acquire, Twixt, Monopoly, Risk, etc. Primarily, I keep crud like original research (no WP:OR]] strategy sections and uncited material from entering articles. Your contributions to Hex are indeed welcome. It's a little known game with deep mathematical implications and almost no literature. Sbalfour (talk) 05:04, 8 April 2019 (UTC)
