Straight to THE BYRNE?

The result of the proposal was move it.
- I would think most people looking for David Byrne would be looking for... David Byrne, the super-genius David Byrne. David Byrne (musician) in other words, really shouldn't this just redirect to him? Joe Davison 17:14, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
- I agree. "Chris Martin" takes you straight to Coldplay's lead singer, even though there are more 'other' Chris Martins and the articles are generally longer. K1da42 (talk) 19:07, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
- I don't know if this one is more notable than the others, but I have set up a redirect from 'David Byrne' to the musician and the disambiguation page as 'David Byrne (disambiguation)'. If you feel the musician is by far the most notable, you should now apply for 'DB (m)' to be moved so its title is just 'DB'. You can't copy and paste, you'd need to apply for an admin to move it. - I have moved David Byrne (disambiguation) back to David Byrne. I had never heard of the musician before reading this article. There are hundreds of musicians who have become well-known for a while. Many football fans would say that one or other of the footballers is the dominant meaning. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 05:40, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
- David Byrne (musician) → David Byrne — {Discuss} — Unnecessary dab, latter redirects to former — —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 02:13, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
- I moved David Byrne (disambiguation) back to David Byrne. David Byrne does not have many ordinary incoming links, and at least one is for one of the footballers. Is the musician a very dominant meaning? Anthony Appleyard (talk) 05:36, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure It would appear so:
- Google results for "David Byrne" musician - 1.8 million
- Google results for "David Byrne" music - 1.7 million
- Google results for "David Byrne" "Talking Heads" - 627,000
- Google results for "David Byrne" football - 237,000 (bear in mind there are four footballers named "David Byrne" on Wikipedia)
- Google results for "David Byrne" soccer - 135,000
- It seems pretty clear that "David Byrne" would generally refer to the musician. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 17:14, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Furthermore In addition to the above post:
- Google results for "David Byrne" guitar - 568,000 results
- Google results for "David Byrne" 99 of the first 100 is about the musician. The other is davidbyrne.net/.
- Britannica considers him the main "David Byrne"
- So does NNDB.
These are pretty convincing in my eyes. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 17:23, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
I agree with Justin. David Byrne the musician was frontman for one of the most critically acclaimed band of his time, and has since remained in the spotlight with various artistic and musical endeavors. While I'll admit that I don't know much about international football, none of the other David Byrnes even seem to warrant more than a stub. K1da42 (talk) 17:26, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
- I also support the move. I am not a very dedicated fan of his music, but the musician is by far the most famous of all the DB's. He is certainly not a flash in the pan! It's also worth pointing out that, while the others may be famous within their small circles, David Byrne and Talking Heads are famous around the world. 81.98.251.134 (talk) 19:07, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
