The article on "aberration in optical systems" is the one I am currently trying to edit.This article has major terminology & concept issues. Some have been corrected but many remain. I think the problem has its origin in microscopy. The aberrations in microscope terminology can be misleading when discussing telescopes. While basic theory may be sound it takes an effort to translate meaning. Maybe best approach to edits should be to leave microscopes here & put telescopes in different article. A too general attempt probably adds a lot of confusion.
The concept of "numerical aperture" is a very good starting point.
