UK slang
[edit]In additon to the terms given,
Brains is also used (in the UK) as slang for: - an indvidual (or entity) behind an (organised) criminal activity.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.237.189.104 (talk • contribs) 20:49, 30 March 2005

your brain
[edit]The brain allways seems to work harder than anything els in the human body.
because it is the thing working the human body.
The brain is infact like a computer from the future,
and that is wy everyone has that computer from the future.
Because it's in side you,
and that is what we as a planet should be proud of.

Requested move 14 October 2017
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: moved. A pretty strong case has been made that "brain" is the primary topic for anyone searching "brains" and a significant majority of participants here have agreed with that position. Jenks24 (talk) 11:58, 28 October 2017 (UTC)
Brains → Brains (disambiguation) – Move to redirect "Brains" to the clear primary topic of the term, "Brain". bd2412 T 03:15, 14 October 2017 (UTC)--Relisting. Anarchyte (work | talk) 11:25, 21 October 2017 (UTC)

- Oppose – in spite of the view counts, it seems rather unlikely that a user typing "Brains" is looking for Brain. Leave the disambig page to deal with the ambiguity. Dicklyon (talk) 04:44, 15 October 2017 (UTC)
- The word "brains" appears over 30 times in the article, Brain. It is therefore readily apparent that people do type "Brains" when referring to "Brain". bd2412 T 02:03, 16 October 2017 (UTC)
- Your logic eludes me. What appears in the article is not relevant to what someone will type to find an article. People will generally type the singular "brain" if they want an article on brains, I think, much like every other non-name item in wikipedia. Dicklyon (talk) 03:37, 16 October 2017 (UTC)
- What else are they looking for, then? Every other topic on the page is of trivial importance and gets a minimal number of pageviews, a fraction of the primary topic. The second most popular topic (still drawing only a fraction of the interest of Brain) is Brain as food - which, you may note, contains the singular "Brain" in the title, and which is still merely about Brains as food, a subtopic of the supertopic, not something ambiguous to it. Everything else draws 1-2% of the interest as Brain. bd2412 T 11:52, 16 October 2017 (UTC)

- Support - I feel the best course of action would be a hatnote. "Brains" redirects here. For eating brains, see Brain as food. For other uses, see Brains (disambiguation).ZXCVBNM (TALK) 09:27, 15 October 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose per Dicklyon. Dohn joe (talk) 00:19, 16 October 2017 (UTC)
- Support - plural of a clearly primary topic. Next discussion should be about merging Brains (disambiguation) into Brain (disambiguation). The vast majority of topics on this disambig page refer to the plural of the primary topic. -- Netoholic @ 06:06, 16 October 2017 (UTC)
- Support. Clear primary topic. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:24, 17 October 2017 (UTC)
- Support per nomination, Zxcvbnm and Netoholic. Eyes redirects to Eye, Ears redirects to Ear and Livers redirects to Liver. Another discussion may decide whether Hearts should redirect to Heart. —Roman Spinner (talk)(contribs) 19:44, 21 October 2017 (UTC)
- User:Roman Spinner: WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS is not a strong argument. You yourself pointed out Hearts. There's also Arms and other examples as well. Dohn joe (talk) 23:05, 21 October 2017 (UTC)
- User:Dohn joe: WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS is, indeed, not a strong argument when it points to other misguided entries as supporting examples. It is, however, a strong argument when it highlights standard Wikipedia forms as models to follow. Most plural main headers redirect to their singular Wikipedia forms, unless one feels that Eyes, Ears, Livers or, as the case may be, Brains should each have its own individual entry rather that redirect to their respective singular form. There are of course, numerous examples of terms which exist primarily in the plural or those, such as Arms, which carry different meanings when presented in the plural form. —Roman Spinner (talk)(contribs) 23:54, 21 October 2017 (UTC)
- Support Clear case of Wp:PRIMARYTOPIC. The nominator discusses page view statistics. Another Wp:DETERMINEPRIMARY criterion is usage in English-language reliable sources, which is overwhelmingly about the cerebral organ: at least 80% of my first 100 Google Books hits and 100 Google News hits for "brains". "Eating brains" is not a serious competitor (only five usages, [1][2][3][4][5], including cookbooks and zombie novels). "Brains" as slangy metonymy for "intelligence", "intellectuals", or "skilled workers" is more common (e.g. [6][7][8]), but still well short of displacing brain from primary topic status. None of the articles and books in my search results use the word "brains" in any of the other minor senses listed on the disambiguation page. 59.149.124.29 (talk) 15:39, 24 October 2017 (UTC)
- Support per nom, and expand hatnote at Brain to also link to this DAB page. ---- Patar knight - chat/contributions 20:30, 24 October 2017 (UTC)
