A note to people viewing this in 1024x768, it looks good in 800x600 on Mozilla Firefox, but I checked it in 1024x768 and it required fairly different spacing and alignment of pictures. I'll leave it optimised for 800x600 monitors, it's a case of one or the other. - Diceman
- That's great, but what if you're 1600x1200 on IE? It looks like rubbish, that's what. Lankiveil 04:22, 28 July 2006 (UTC).
An article about the Loch Ard Gorge that doesn't mention the Loch Ard. Interesting. Ambi 00:02, 7 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Why don't you mention it then instead of complaining. Diceman 03:42, 7 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Please don't remove other people's comments from talk pages. I didn't have time, so I'm noting that it's a fairly major hole in the existing article. Nothing personal. Ambi 08:13, 7 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- I mentioned the Loch Ard (didn't know the Gorge was named after it at the time of writing the article) so I didn't think there was much purpose in the comments remaining there. You're not one of these people who tries to "run" wikipedia are you? (I've run into one them before, David Gerard). Before you re-edit this page I'd like to leave the paragraph about spacing at the top because people running 1024x768 will not be happy with the formatting. On a (slightly more) lighter topic there's a number of articles I've thought about putting more info on but I want to avoid plagiarism if I can, I don't know if re-wording something still counts as plagiarism. Is this actually a cliff? Does it belong in Category:Cliffs? - Gilgamesh 15:05, 22 May 2005 (UTC)
- No. I've changed it to Category:Gorges. Ambi 08:20, 23 May 2005 (UTC)
The pictures on this page do not actually depict Loch Ard Gorge, but show other features of the Shipwreck Coast. A sample picture of the gorge can be found on this page: http://www.webwombat.com.au/travel/articles/shipwreck-coast.htm ... as you can see, not the same thing. Could we get hold of a pic of the gorge for this page, and move the pics currently here to somewhere more suitable? -- Skud
- I'm no expert on Port Campbell National Park these were taken from viewpoints a short walk from the Loch Ard Gorge staircase. I didn't take a pictue of the Gorge itself (not enough time) but these were all in the same area (as in a short walk from the carpark). So I guess the question is should the article be about the area or confine itself to only the gorge itself? In my opinion it might be easier to write articles on each area rather than have an article on each individual feature. Diceman 14:30, 14 July 2005 (UTC)
- We now have an article on the Shipwreck Coast - other areas should go there. This isn't an article on the area around Loch Ard Gorge - it's an article on Loch Ard Gorge. Ambi 23:45, 14 July 2005 (UTC)
- It looks like there's a need for articles on Elephant Rock and The Blowhole. Shipwreck Coast is not an article on these two features - it's an article on The Shipwreck Coast. Diceman 18:17, 15 July 2005 (UTC)
- Then write an article about Elephant Rock and the Blowhole, both of which would be quite helpful. Putting the images in this one instead of Loch Ard Gorge is like illustrating Uluru with a picture of Kata Tjuta instead - not very helpful. Ambi 23:39, 15 July 2005 (UTC)
- Would it be better to make a single article which lists all of them and have them linked together as one article? It makes sense to differentiate between them, but from one point you can see pretty much all of them, so they still belong together. I just added a photo I took of the sign which shows all the formations, their relative locations and such. That should help some Se7enLC 19:56, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
named after what ?
[edit]Is the gorge really named after a shipwreck ? or after the ship which was shipwrecked there ? -- PFHLai 15:42, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, it is. The Loch Ard was wrecked there; the tourist information signs around the Gorge tell the story of the wreck in more detail than is currently contained in the article. Paddles TC 08:34, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
- I meant the event or the ship. I assume it was the ship. I'll change the text of this article to match that on MainPage now. -- PFHLai 18:41, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
Panorama
[edit]In the panorama, I can see something artificial on each side, maybe half a meter up from the ground, right near the water on the right side and a ways back on the left. Light rectangles with something dark in the middle. Anyone know what that is? 70.243.116.138 (talk) 02:22, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
- They're warning signs. Beware of high tides or something similar. Maybe a bit less dramatic, but the council obviously doesn't want to be accused of letting any more unfortunate incidents happen here. - Gimboid13 (talk) 10:43, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
