He's wonderful but I'm not sure what the "colorized" version does that the other doesn't. It seems to just be a negative with a sepia hue, and looks nothing like the versions actually in Micrographia. --Fastfission 02:51, 10 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- The colourised treatment was following one I saw in a magazine a while back. It is intended to be more eye catching in order to attract the casual reader (plus it looks a bit more like an SEM image, eg. this one, which shows that Hooke did pretty well with a compound microscope). However, the original B&W version was universally prefered on WP:FPC so this coloured version isn't really used anywhere and may as well be deleted. -- Solipsist 07:59, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)
